Visit to Pit Stop
By Slough Town Supporters Trust, Jan 30 2019 08:54PM
On Wednesday, three members of the Trust board visited the Pit Stop Project on the Trading Estate. Pit Stop has been chosen as this year's Sponsored Walk charity and we wanted to get to know the project and the people.
Dan, Mike and Ollie visited the site to see the facilities that are provided for young people across a large area. Hidden away in the Trading Estate is a large workshop divided into work areas for construction and car mechanics, as well as some other teaching rooms. They also visited the Gateway post-16 site at the end of the High Street which is linked to the Pit Stop Project.
They presented a Slough Town shirt to the team at Pit Stop which will be framed and put on their wall. The staff members gave a tour of the facility with a really interesting insight into how it is run and the stories behind some of the learners that pass through the project.
We'd like to thank the staff at both Pit Stop and Gateway for their time and for their enthusiasm in what we're trying to do - a few have said they will join us on the walk too. They have also invited us to join their annual awards ceremony in the summer which is a really nice gesture. There is certainly a great determination from the staff to provide real opportunities for some of the area's most difficult learners.
Keep an eye on our social media where a few photos will appear soon.
Don't forget to get signed up for the walk either by dropping us an email or by visiting the tables by turnstile 4 on a home matchday. We have registration and sponsor forms at every game home and away, just speak to Alan Harding or Dan Brench. All the details are on our website Sponsored Walk page.
