Sponsored Walk 2019 details

By Slough Town Supporters Trust, Jan 16 2019 03:38PM

Slough Town Supporters Trust is pleased to confirm the details for this year’s Sponsored Walk.

After the success of last year’s walk along the provisional Slough Half Marathon route, which raised £1650 split between the Trust and Berkshire Vision, we’ve come up with our next walking challenge which returns to the origins of the walk.

This year the walk will go back to an away game walk, but don’t worry, it’s not Truro! The walk will take place on Saturday 23rd March as we walk from Arbour Park to our away game at Woking. The full logistics of the day will be published later, however an approximate start time of 7am for the 17 mile journey has been suggested.

The charity that has been selected this year is the Slough PitStop Project which is linked to Haybrook College, a referral unit which has several sites across Slough. PitStop is an educational charity based in Slough Trading Estate which uses a vocational curriculum for students from a range of schools and referral units across the town and the local area. They offer practical courses in motor mechanics, construction and catering, allowing students to gain industry recognised qualifications and link with the Gateway post-16 provision to offer learners qualifications up to GCSE level.

PitStop works with the most complex and challenging young people in the town, so they have been selected as our charity of choice, with the funds raised being split between the Trust and PitStop, who will use it to replace some of their motor mechanics workshop such as trolley jacks, tools and other equipment.

We will look to arrange a visit to the project in the coming weeks, but in the meantime, to find out more about PitStop, see their website http://haybrookcollege.co.uk/pitstop-2/

Recruitment for the walk starts now. You can sign up either by visiting the Trust gazebo by turnstile 4 on home matchdays, by speaking to Alan Harding or Dan Brench, or by contacting us by email on trust@sloughtownsupporterstrust.co.uk. The more walkers we have, the more money we can raise, so get signed up and get ready to walk to Woking!
